Are You A Candidate For Revision Surgery?

Could Your Gastric Band Be Failing?

Some patients have problems after gastric band surgery. Problems can begin to arise soon after surgery and sometimes even years later.

What type of problems can occur?

    • Are you no longer losing weight?
    • Are you regaining weight?
    • Are you having persistent nausea and frequent bouts of vomiting or Emesis?
    • Are you having difficulty tolerating certain foods?
    • Are you only able to tolerate liquids?
    • Are you having severe heart burn or Acid Reflux?
    • Are you having Dysphagia or difficulty swallowing?

If you or someone you know has had gastric band surgery and are now having any of these symptoms it could be caused by one of the following…

    • Device failure
    • Gastric band slippage or migration
    • Gastric Band erosion
    • Gastric Band obstruction

    Is Revision Surgery the Solution?

For many who have struggled with their weight and the risks to their health that comes with it, it’s been a long road. Not getting the results you expected from your previous bariatric surgery can be very disappointing and even more frustrating if you are suffering medical complications that followed.

If your gastric band has failed, Dr. Hanna has a solution for you. We evaluate for band slippage, erosions and device failure. Dr. Hanna also performs revision bariatric surgery for patients who have undergone unsatisfactory weight loss surgery elsewhere. In addition, sometimes a revision procedure is necessary to speed up your weight loss or reverse post surgical weight gain.

    How does Revision Surgery work?

    • Usually done laparascopically “minimally invasive”
    • The Band is removed and the stomach is converted to a Gastric Sleeve.
    • The procedure may take less than an hour.
    • Most patients go home the same day, some stay overnight in the hospital

Band to Sleeve revision surgery has shown outstanding results. Countless patients are now seeing in themselves better weight loss and improved health. They are ecstatic with the success of their revision surgery and are ecstatic at finally seeing progress being made with their weight management.

Expertise in Revision Surgery after Gastric Banding

It’s very important for a patient in need of revision surgery to choose an experienced surgeon. Doctors who don’t do a lot of these procedures may not use the most up to date surgical techniques and not follow up with the patient as much as essential to post- revision surgery success.

Dr. Bernie Hanna has extensive experience with revision procedures. His experience and reputation sets him apart as one of the leading Bariatric surgeons in The Las Vegas area and has been voted ‘Top Surgeon” by his peers in 2006, 2007 and 2013.
