Dumping Syndrome

Are you suffering from Dumping Syndrome? Dumping Syndrome is a medical condition that develop after Bariatric Surgery. Dumping Syndrome may occur when food, most often sugar, moves too quickly from your stomach into your small bowel. Your Diet after bariatric surgery is very important. Signs and symptoms of Dumping Syndrome include abdominal cramps and diarrhea within 10 to 30 minutes of eating or 1 to 3 hours after eating.  Other symptoms may include:

  • Feeling bloated or too full after eating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Diarrhea
  • Flushing
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness
  • Rapid heart rate

Dumping Syndrome can be prevented by properly changing your Diet after Bariatric Surgery by eating smaller meals and reducing high sugar foods. Severe cases of Dumping Syndrome may need to be treated by medications or surgery.
